Emmipet Consultation

This complementary session includes a dental consultation, assessment of your dog's oral health, an explanation of their current dental condition, and a recommended treatment plan if suitable. After a successful consultation we can book your dogs first clean or treatment plan in full. Please allow this time to stay with your dog for their consultation.

Medical Bath

**Prescription Bath & Dry Service** Suitable for dogs prescribed a medicated shampoo by their vet. This service helps ensure treatment is applied correctly and as frequently as directed, supporting healthy skin and maximising the effectiveness of the prescribed product. Appointments can be booked as often as recommended by your vet/directed by shampoo. A gentle coat-cleansing shampoo will be used after the prescribed treatment to benefit coat condition without affecting the effectiveness of the medicated shampoo. No additional products will be used. This service includes a full bath, treatment application, and drying. Discount may be given for multiple treatments required on a weekly basis.

Cocker Spaniel Handstrip Consultation

THIS APPOINTMENT IS FOR A COAT CONSULTATION ONLY. This is a 15-20 minute coat consultation to check your dog's suitability to be stripped. Due to the time required for a hand stripping service you are NOT booking a full hand stripping appointment. Please call or message me for advice beforehand. Price to be determined. After this coat consultation, a subsequent appointment will be booked for the full hand strip service. A deposit will be required for the quoted price upon completion of this consultation.

FAQ's

Do you express anal glands?
No.
I prefer not to intervene unless medically necessary, as repeated expression can sometimes cause irritation or problems.


If your dog is showing signs that their anal glands need attention, I recommend speaking to your vet.
Do you pluck ear hair?
At the advice of your vet, yes.

For dogs prone to ear problems, removing excess hair may sometimes help with treatment.

Otherwise, if the ear hair isn’t causing any trouble, I prefer to leave it alone rather than interfere unnecessarily. Cleaning will be carried out with anti-bacterial cleanser.
Can I bring my own shampoo?
Your preference is your own but doesn't reduce grooming costs.

However, if your dog has a prescription shampoo, I will use it according to your vet’s prescribed instructions.

For dogs requiring frequent medicated bathing as part of ongoing treatment, I also offer a dedicated Medical Bath service using your prescribed shampoo.
What will you do if my dog is matted?
Hounds on the Hill follows a Humanity Over Vanity approach.

If your dog is knotty and can be safely brushed out without causing unnecessary discomfort, it will be.

For heavier matting, the kindest option is usually to remove it and start fresh.

Matted hair is already damaged, so removal gives the skin and coat a healthier starting point for regrowth.
Follow-up grooms may be recommended to help keep the new coat manageable.

Please note, matting may incur an additional charge due to the extra time involved and wear on grooming equipment, and is not included within the advertised ‘from’ prices.
Do you groom large/giant dogs?
As I work alone, unfortunately I don’t groom large or giant breeds, for both your dog’s safety and my own.

If you cannot see your breed listed on the booking platform unfortunately I cannot accomodate them.
Will you shave my puppy on their first puppy groom?
No.
Puppy Grooms are designed to introduce your puppy to grooming gradually, giving them time to process all the new sights, sounds, handling and equipment without asking too much of them at once.


Their first groom includes a bath and dry, brush through, ear clean and nail trim.
Long-haired puppies will also have light scissor and clipper work around the face, feet and hygiene areas to gently introduce these parts of the grooming process.


Every puppy develops at their own pace, so behaviour and confidence will determine when they’re ready for their first full clip and style. This is usually around six months old, when their coat is also beginning to change.


After their first puppy groom, I’ll advise you on the best next step and when to book their first full groom.
